Nilagang baboy is a popular dish for both lunch and dinner, and is often served with a variety of condiments, such as fish sauce, chili peppers, and calamansi (Filipino lime).
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 2 lbs. pork belly, cubed
- 1 cabbage, medium-sized, quartered
- 2 potatoes, medium-sized, peeled and cubed
- 4 pcs. ripe saba banana, sliced in half crosswise
- 1 onion, medium-sized, quartered
- 6 cups water
- 2 pork broth cubes
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp. whole peppercorn
- 3 tbsps. cooking oil
Cooking Procedures:
Step 1
In a cooking pot, heat the cooking oil then sauté the onion.
Step 2
Add the whole peppercorn.
Step 3
Add the pork. Cook for about 3 minutes or until the color became slightly brown.
Step 4
Add the water and the pork broth cubes. Bring to a boil. Continue to cook on low heat for about 45 minutes or until the pork becomes tender.
Step 5
Add the potatoes and saba banana. Stir and cook for 10 minutes.
Step 6
Add the cabbage and salt. Stir, cover and continue to cook for 3 minutes.
Step 7
Serve hot and enjoy your nilagang baboy!
