How to Make Palabok Sauce

This is an easier and faster version of making delicious palabok sauce so you can enjoy it not just when there’s a special occasion.

This sauce recipe is good for 1 pack bihon noodles (1lb/454g).

Ingredients You’ll Need:

For the sauce:

  • 1 pack palabok mix (Mama Sita’s brand)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp onion, chopped

For the pork topping:

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp onion, chopped
  • 1 cup boiled pork, diced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar

Other toppings:

  • cooked shrimp
  • calamansi
  • chicharon bits
  • chopped onion leaves
  • sliced boiled eggs


Cooking Procedures:

For the sauce:

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the palabok mix in 2 cups of water.
  2. In a sauce pan, sauté garlic and onion until light brown.
  3. Add the prepared sauce and cook until it thickens. (Stir continuously to avoid lumps in the sauce)
  4. Remove from heat then set aside.

For the pork topping:

  1. In a pan, sauté garlic and onion until light brown.
  2. Add the diced boiled pork and fry for at least 1 minute.
  3. Put vinegar and soy sauce for added flavor. Mix well.
  4. Remove from heat then set aside.

Preparation:

  1. In a large plate, put cooked bihon noodles.
  2. Add the cooked sauce.
  3. Add the toppings (chicharon bits, cooked diced pork, sliced boiled eggs, cooked shrimp, sliced calamansi and chopped onion leaves). The amount of the toppings is up to your preference.
  4. Serve and enjoy your palabok!
